Cross-Cutting Issues
Human development has many faces, thus discussions of human development can be organized in many different ways. This website has organized information about the various facets of human development in a small set of key areas. Some issues, however, cut across the categories that we have defined, making it difficult to compile information on these issues. For instance indicators related to gender can be found in health, knowledge, economy, governance, and values. This section of the site identifies these crosscutting issues and brings together indicators from other areas of the website so that you can more easily examine the complex facets of human development.

Information related to these crosscutting issues is organized here in the following key categories. Click on an indicator to see its value for individual nations and for a description of what it intends to measure. (Note: Not all information is available for all countries).
